Handmade Solid Pewter Thistle Tartan Pin

Large solid pewter tartan pin features the traditional penannular style with raised Celtic knotwork and five realistic thistles. Secures to a garment by way of a 3 inch steel pin with locking, safety catch - soldered to the pewter frontpiece for strength.

Matte finish pewter brooch measures 3 1/2" x 3" overall brooch size with a 3" steel pin. Handmade in Scotland

About the Thistle

The prickly purple thistle is the national emblem of Scotland. Ever present in fields and pastures throughout Scotland, thistle has been Scotland's emblem for centuries. The first use as a royal symbol was on silver coins issued by James III in 1470.
